The Csík Basin is situated in the south-east of Harghita County, Romania on 2 027 km2 with 65 000 inhabitants.

The touristic potential as the eco-tourism, agro-tourism, protected natural values, landscapes, meadows, mineral waters, is remarkable. The architectural and cultural heritage, the fortified churches, traditions, crafts, buildings are also valuable.

The crucial disadvantage of the region is the degradation of traditional local landscapes and identity. There is a need for innovative projects to preserve the traditional surroundings.
